Read Matthew's 5-star Google Reviews

“There are lots of teachers who can teach the technical playing of an instrument. There are fewer teachers who can inspire a love of music within a child. And there are FAR fewer teachers who can do both. Matthew Pavilanis is a rare find in a music teacher…the best I’ve ever encountered.”

Piano Lessons with Our Studio

I am an educator with almost 15 years of experience in teaching piano and guitar.  I discovered my passion for piano during my teenage years, and since then, I have spent countless hours pursuing the beauty, discipline, and joy that are a part of learning a musical instrument.  I have also experienced the challenges  that also inevitably accompany this process.  Having simultaneously pursued music as a student, teacher, and performer throughout my teen years and then into my undergraduate degree and my Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Oregon, I believe that I bring a unique perspective to the process of learning a musical instrument. Experienced and Passionate Teacher

I have almost 15 years of teaching experience in piano and guitar.  I also received my Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Oregon, and regularly prepare and perform concerts around Lane County.

Technique, creativity, and flexibility

I adjust my teaching program and style to suit children with a wide range of learning styles, while also making sure that all students receive a strong foundation in technique, improvisation, and music theory.

Lessons for students of all ages and needs

I teach students ranging from 5 to 75.   My main goal in teaching is to instill a love of music, no matter the age of my student.  I also have years of experience teaching children with ADHD, Autism, and behavioral difficulties, and enjoy working with each student’s unique strengths and challenges.

Convenience and Reputation

I offer piano lessons in my Southwest Eugene studio or at your home.  I currently have two grand pianos in my studio, which allows for a greater ease in modeling for my students.  Click here to read what my students and the parents of my students have to say about lessons.
